When it comes to artists with devoted fans, Buju Banton has them where ever there is reggae music - which is everywhere on the planet. Buju, to his adoring fans, is a living embodiment of all that is the message of reggae music. From revolutionary, to spiritual, to the 'Rude Bwoy' culture, he has captured a loyal following with his music and charismatic stage performances - literally on every continent on the globe. I recall when he busted-out on the Washington DC club scene when shortly after then 'King of Dancehall' Shabba Ranks - faded. One could not go to a club or turn on radio without getting a heavy serving of that unmistakable voice and unique delivery style. Banton is this generations Bob Marley in every respect.

For his work, Buju recently received a Grammy Award for best Reggae Album of 2010 for Before the Dawn - now those who have held a grudge for the teenage Buju Banton (Mr. Mention) for anti-gay lyrics, need to put him in context. A teenage MC usually live and talk his community culture when trying to break-in to the dancehall or hip-hop business. As a man - his experiences has matured him. And his spirituality and love for all people come through in his music as an adult. Check him out and don't hate - congratulate!
